The Digital Footprint of Technology

Client
The brand the:protocol decided to delve into the topic of digital ecology in two editions of the project 'Digital Footprint of Technology'. Among the challenges that arose at this stage was a question: how to define digital balance and check if Poles even recognize it? It was also necessary to capture the real impact of technology on health, relationships, and the environment. In the second edition of the report, we wanted to take it a step further and instead of comparing year-on-year data, uncover new trends and phenomena that are beginning to shape digital reality. Both editions demonstrated one thing – it is crucial to find a balance between the benefits of digitalization and its consequences for us all. This is precisely what we focused on in the report 'Poles on a Digital Balance Beam. Digital Footprint of Technology 2024'.
The aim of the first edition (2023) was to determine the scale of technology's impact on the daily lives of Polish people and their awareness of digital ecology. Therefore, we conducted a study that showed technology not only shapes our habits but also has a tangible impact on mental health, social relationships, and the natural environment. In 2024, we decided, together with the brand the:protocol, to capture new trends and phenomena in the rapidly changing digital landscape. That's why the second study and the subsequent report focused on digital balance—understood as the use of technology in a way that minimizes its negative impact on health, relationships, and the environment.
Effects
